On June 15, 2015, Monsignor Adeodato
Mancini passed away. He was an ecumenical missionary bishop, a monk, an orientalist, a professor at the U.S.E.D.E.I. University in Turin, a scholar of Patristics and the lives of the desert fathers, as well as universally recognized as the foremost historical expert on orders of knighthood. He was the last descendant of the Marquises of Ausignano, scholar of the life of the desert fathers, founder of the Monastery of the Holy Family in Incisa Scapaccino (AT), and refounder of the O.M.T. (Monastic Templar Order) of the Pietà del Pellicano, hereditary patrimony of the Mancini Marchesi d’Ausignano family, of which he was the last monarch of the Order, having no male heirs. Monsignor Adeodato is remembered not only for his multifaceted organizational skills, but above all for his love for the poor and the marginalized, so much so that he often went out in his camper van to look for “tramps” and “homeless people” to bring them a plate of pasta, clothing, and basic necessities. We fondly remember Father Adeodato when he honored us with his presence at the inauguration of the Castle of Viglas and the blessing of the Templar Chapel now dedicated to him in 2014.
